The Principles of Bingo
The game of Bingo was originally played in Italy sometime during the 1530’s. It was popularly called Lotto and this game is regularly played even today on weekends. Originally bingo was called “Beano” as beans were used to mark numbers on the bingo ticket. A salesman named Edwin Lowe observed this game being played at a carnival near Atlanta. He saw that people were very excited and happy with this game, so he learned the basics and introduced it to his friends in New York. While the game was being played someone mistakenly called out “Bingo” instead of the usual “Beano”. Since then the game became popular as bingo.
Bingo is a simple game where luck, rather than your skills, usually determine the outcome of the game. Players need to visit a bingo hall or a bingo room, buy bingo tickets and play the game. Tickets have numbers printed on them, and players have to mark numbers called. When bingo is played in halls, there is a caller who randomly draws balls and calls a number. There are different ways to win, and the most common winning combinations are line and full house.
Players have to mark all the numbers on a line, if the winning combination is a line. Similarly if the winning combination is full house, you need to mark all the numbers on the ticket to win. Anyone who
completes a line or full house has to call out BINGO before the next number is called. When a player calls out BINGO, the numbers on his ticket are matched with those drawn by the caller. Online bingo is similar to bingo played at community halls, only difference is you need a computer and an internet connection to play the game.
