The young man was online looking for places to take a date that would cost about $30 which is no easy task. At first he rejected the idea of taking his date to a bingo game, but decided to give it a try. Expecting the worst he pictured a rundown hall lit by fluorescent lights populated with oldsters and reeking of smoke. He said the bingo hall he chose was on the outskirts of Melbourne and he called to ask directions. He picked up his date and arrived at the bingo hall and relates that the parking lot was packed. He and his date went inside and bought $32 dollars worth of bingo books. (a bingo book contains bingo cards that are color coded)
The first thing our young man notices was the diverse crown which was not what he had expected. The second thing he noticed was how packed the hall was but he and his date managed to find seats together. They decided to play 2 bingo books at once and found it difficult because of the speed of the caller. Another unsettling factor was the intense quiet during the games. One player’s cell phone went off and stopped a game much to the chagrin of the other players who made their displeasure known.
The jackpot was $10,000 and the competition was keen. Although neither of our players won, both said it was a lot of fun and they wouldn’t hesitate to play again.
